Prof. dr. Ad de Jongh (1956) is tandarts en gz-psycholoog. Hij is sinds 2003 als bijzonder hoogleraar angst- en gedragsstoornissen - vanwege Stichting Bijzondere Tandheelkunde (SBT) - verbonden aan het Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam (ACTA) van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Hij was vanaf 1988 werkzaam als 'angsttandarts' in gezondheidscentrum Nellestein te Amsterdam en vanaf 1990 in gezondheidscentrum 'Tanthof' te Delft. Hij is verantwoordelijk voor het onderzoek naar angst- en gedragstoornissen in de tandheelkundige setting (onder andere de tandartsfobie), is (co-) auteur van meer dan 150 publicaties over angststoornissen en de behandeling ervan (waaronder 5 boeken) en verzorgt diverse cursussen op dit terrein in binnen- en buitenland. Hij is hoofd van de opleiding tot postinitiële masteropleiding tandarts-angstbegeleiding.

Als psycholoog heeft Ad de Jongh zich met name gespecialiseerd in de behandeling van traumagerelateerde angststoornissen, waaronder posttraumatische stress-stoornis (PTSS). Momenteel is hij naast zijn werkzaamheden bij ACTA sinds 2011 als honorary professor verbonden aan de School of Social Work, Psychology and Public Health van Salford University, Manchester (United Kingdom). Ook is hij directeur van de slachtofferhulporganistatie D.O.E.N. te Druten en van het Centrum voor Psychotherapie en Psychotrauma te Bilthoven. Ad de Jongh is supervisor en opleider voor Vereniging EMDR Nederland (VEN) en European EMDR Association (EMDREA). Verder is hij ondermeer bestuurslid van de Vereniging EMDR Nederland, de European EMDR Association (EMDREA) en van de wetenschappelijke commissie van de EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
